Recent Developments at Kilteel and District Game Club

As part of our ongoing drive to improvement Habitat in our area for game and non-game species alike we planted and fenced off and planted several small areas. Theses include native tree species beech, ash, oak and wild cherry. We hope to encourage game to use these as a nesting  areas an to provide roosting and cover  . These Areas in which the club has developed and maintain in co-operation with local Landowners now total over 5000 trees planted. We are always seeking new areas no matter how small to increase vital habitat in our area as like everywhere are area comes under increase pressure from house building and habitat destruction. Last year we increased  the number of Pheasant and Ducks released in our area as well as continuing to improve and increase holding Habitat by planting cover crops, excavated another release pond and  this year  we hope to develop at least one further flight pond. This spring the benefits of last years release and feeding can be seen and heard. How nice it is to hear the Cock Pheasant crow and hear the beat of Mallard wings overhead and know that in no small part that as sportsmen and conservationists we are helping to maintain the wildlife within our area.
